Fall in Virginia Beach with Kids: Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes and Halloween Fun (2026)

Our favorite pumpkin patches, corn mazes and Halloween events around Virginia Beach, plus tips for a fall outing with little ones.

October 20, 2026

Virginia Beach shines in the summer, but fall might be the best-kept secret in the 757. The oceanfront crowds are gone, the weather is (mostly) getting comfortable, and the farms in southern Virginia Beach and Chesapeake turn into pumpkin-picking playgrounds. Here's where we go for fall fun with kids! Farm hours change week to week, so always check their website or Facebook page before you head out.

Quick picks

  • Biggest fall day out: Hunt Club Farm's Harvest Fair
  • Best for little ones: Hickory Ridge Farm
  • Free Halloween fun: Cullipher Farm's play area and fall vibes are free! Also check our events calendar for community-organized trunk-or-treats and festivals

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes in Virginia Beach

Hunt Club Farm. Open through Nov 1. The Harvest Fair has a pumpkin patch, a family corn maze, unlimited hayrides and a petting farm, so it easily fills a morning. This one gets busy quick! It draws a large crowd, especially on weekends, and add-ons (like pony rides) can add up quick if you're on a budget. Admission starts around $15.

Cullipher Farm. Pick your pumpkin right off the vine, then try the big corn maze if you have older kids looking for a challenge ($10 for walking-age and up). There's a free play area for the kids with fun tractor tricycles and slides, as well as a market with all the yummy apple-cider flavors. Check their u-pick availability if you'd like to apple pick too!

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes in Chesapeake

Hickory Ridge Farm. Made for little ones, with pick-your-own pumpkins, a storybook-character hayride, a children's corn maze, pony rides, petting zoo, and a barrel train. This is our family-favorite. It checks all of our boxes and the smaller space keeps things nostalgic-feeling and easily walkable with littles tagging along. Weekends can get busy here but it's still our first choice! Check their Facebook page for October hours.

Historic Greenbrier Farms. Pick your own pumpkins from mid-September through late October, and pumpkins starting at $12 in the patch. The fall festival adds bounce houses, yard games, barnyard animals to pet, free hayrides to the pumpkin patch, sand piles and fall photo spots. Play area is $8 for kids 2 and up (adults free), with $10 parking on weekends. "The Haunting" on Friday and Saturday nights is for older kids and grown-ups. Details

Bergey's Barnyard. Open through Oct 31. This year's 10-acre corn maze has an aviation theme, plus a petting zoo and pumpkin patch. Monday–Thursday it's $12 for the maze and petting zoo ($8 for the petting zoo only). Fridays ($17, or $12 for ages 2–7) and Saturdays ($22, or $12 for ages 2–7) add a hayride, the pumpkin patch and a shot on the corn gun. Ages 1 and under are free. Their famous pies are at Bergey's Breadbasket nearby--definitely worth a visit! Details

Mount Pleasant Farms. A classic farm outing with a corn maze, a straw bale maze for small kids, tractor hayrides, barrel train, pony rides, and a petting zoo. There's also a corn-kernel pit for kiddos to play in.

Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch. A kid-sized hay bale maze, hayrides, bounce houses and giant slides. The haunted hayride at night is better for older kids and teens.

Fall outdoors

Cooler days and smaller crowds make fall the best time for trails. Our picks are First Landing State Park and Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, both on our family map.

Tips for a farm day with kids

  • Go on a weekday or right at opening. October weekends get busy fast.
  • Wear boots or old sneakers. Fields and mazes can be muddy after rain.
  • Bring a wagon. It hauls tired toddlers and big pumpkins.
  • Pack cash, wipes, and hand sanitizer. Some farm stands and activities are cash-only, and petting farms can get messy.
